It was a wild ride of "geometry gymnastics" and stubborn folds, but ultimately about streamlining the workflow between 2D and 3D animation. The biggest challenge was the constantly evolving box design. To maintain consistent UVs, I temporarily switched to using deformers, which gave us the flexibility to add flaps at specific positions. I also created two UV sets to ensure enough resolution for the close-up camera move. In the end, we landed on a standard box layout, rigged with bones and fine-tuned using deformers.
